4th of July

 A bit of excitement on our Fourth of July celebration with two very loud lightning strikes, one to the east, and then a few seconds later, one to the west, just as the kids and grandkids had started out for a walk.  I came to the door and hollered and whooped for them to return!  In a few seconds, Rebekah came chugging up the driveway at top speed, ahead of the crowd. Not for nothing did that child train with her mom for a 5k race a few weeks ago.  Isaac appeared a few dozen feet behind his cousin, and the rest of the troops came along behind.

And then, during our front yard firework display, one of the larger fireworks rolled onto its side and shot its fiery blasts directly toward us all as onlookers.  John stood up to try to protect me, Rebekah and Isaac both were narrowly missed by bullet-like fiery plumes, Jonathan scooped Kathryn and turned with his back to the explosions, and a particularly loud blast left one of his ears ringing.  The explosions finally came to a halt, we all took a few breaths in complete silence, and then I (of course) had a comment.

"What was that your dad said that time, Brian?"  Bri burst out laughing because he remembered well that when a similar incident had sent a firework blast right at Roger's feet, he had uttered an expletive made funny both by his alarm and by his subsequent chagrin that he had used a choice word in front of Brian's in-laws.

Thank You Lord for your mercy over us.  It isn't because we deserve it, but because of Your love that we are saved.  Blessed be the name of the Lord!

It was not by their sword that they won the land,

    nor did their arm bring them victory;

it was your right hand, your arm,

    and the light of your face, for you loved them.

Psalm 44:3

Note:  Farmer John escaped July photographs.  He is always in the background, washing dishes, picking up, helping out, protecting, and talking farm business.  He is dependable and we do all depend on him.

Off they go for a walk!!

Melinda rushing back after the lightning strike, saving the children!!
